From Big John Trimble
Since the first song about Truck Drivers "Truck Drivers Blues,"
just about every type of music and artist have produced songs
about truckers out on the open road or relaxing at their favorite
truck stops. Since I did an overnight truckers radio program for
25 years and spent 21 of the years broadcasting from two of the
worlds largest truck stops, Kelly's in Shreveport, LA and
Jarrell's near Richmond, VA, I know that truck drivers like
all kinds of music. I also know that 8 out of 10 drivers prefer
Bluegrass over all other kinds of Music. Most of the early
Bluegrass and country music trucking songs were recorded by
artists who were truckers at the time. Perhaps the most famous
trucking song of them all, "Teddy Bear" was written by an over-the-road driver.
Music has always been important to the ladies and gentleman who
bring the rest of us the products and services we use in our daily lives.
I am sure that this new CD will help many drivers get through heavy traffic or a lonely night out there on the highways as they put American commerce on wheels.
I have three long time friends who are heard on this CD
including Big Al Weekley, Dave Dudley and James King. With
talented artists like these gentlemen and the popular performers
who appear on this CD, I am sure that "For the Long Haul" will
be something truckers and others will treasure for years to come.
Remember, if you've got it, a trucker brought it and when you
get through with it, a trucker will most likely take it away.
